Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1275790A1] The shingle (10) consists of a core (12) of a wood such as pine or spruce, treated to make it rot proof, or plastic, and a covering layer (14) of sheet metal, such as copper, zinc or stainless steel. The metal layer has turned-down edges (38) to fit over the exposed part of the shingle when laid, while its covered part of has a strip (32) with curled edges (36) to shed rainwater and ensure the required spacing between shingles for ventilation. The strip is welded to the end of the metal covering layer.
