[origin: EP1276125A2] The power switch has movable contacts within a switch chamber (10), with an auto-compression gas space (100) within the switch chamber and a gas space (200) outside the switch chamber, communicating via an opening (105) through which gas flows during switch operation. The switch chamber has an additional opening (107) allowing gas to flow into the auto-compression gas space (100) of the switch chamber during separation of the switch contacts.
