Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1277495A1] The climbing aid to assist in climbing a ladder or stairs, and the like, has a safety harness (8), and a constant pull unit (18) with a drive motor (30) to pull a cable (20) to carry a person (10) upwards. The pull forces on the cable are less than the weight of the supported person, who can stop at any stage and move up or down as required, and the free end of the pull cable hangs down for use by a second person. A breaker stops the motor or the transmission from the motor, which can be operated at any point on the ladder or stairs. The safety harness includes a slide, which travels on a guide which is separate from the pull cable.
