Abstract (en)

[origin: WO0190467A2] The invention relates to a sewing device (1) with a programmable electronic control system (4) for sewing pleats and darts. The aim of the invention is to abandon the need to change form-dependent parts (guiding tongue, pressure pad) when changing the sewing program. Guiding tongues dependent on the form of the seam and form-dependent pressure pads are thus discarded; the material to be sewn is simply fed by means of a folding tool (5) with a straight folding edge, and said material is fixed and guided during the sewing process by means of a rectilinear pressure pad (7). The electronic control system (4) is programmed in such a way that the desired seam is obtained exclusively by superpositioning longitudinal and transversal movements of the pressure pad (7).To achieve this, the parameters (1'-7<IV>) which determine the seam are preferably inputted using graphics.
