[origin: WO0177574A1] The invention relates to an installation for filling gas tanks, such as those used for e.g., holding gaseous fuels for combustion engines, which can be used to fill gas tanks with a very wide range of suitable gases, especially natural gas. The inventive installation should preferably be configured for small capacities, in a versatile and economical manner, be able to satisfy very different requirements in terms of short filling times and optimum filling strategies and make good use of the available gas storage capacity, respectively. To this end, at least two pressure vessels or compressed gas vessels are used as gas storage devices (1;8) and are connected to a delivery point (15) or a distributor for several delivery points by pipes (23;24;25) of a pipe system. A compressor (7) is additionally located in a bypass pipe (2;2) of the valve-controlled pipe system.
