[origin: EP1279502A1] The control strip or block, to control the printing quality of mono or multi-color printing at a gravure printing press, has a color development control field (10) as a screen field strip (11) of a primary color to show the overflow of the screen field on achieving a given surface color level. The longitudinal line of the control field shows a continuous increase or decrease in the color development by nominal values for the tone, from at least 0% to a maximum of 100%. The nominal values (12) are displayed in the screen field.
