Abstract (en)

[origin: DE10022360A1] Composite component comprises two or more profiles assembled to form a structure. Reinforcing elements (3,3') are located at each connecting joint (10) where one profile (1) adjoins or inserts into another profile (2) and forms a positive connection with them. Thermoplastic resin is then injected or shrunk onto the connecting point to join the profiles together. Independent claims are made for: (a) a use of the composite part as a structural member in motor vehicles, especially doors, impact bumpers, front and rear body parts, door support frames, instrument panels, tailgate supports, roof frames and decorative parts; machines; electronic products; household goods and construction; and (b) a process for production of the composite component in which two or more profiles (1,2) are inserted into or are enclosed by reinforcing members (3,3') to form a connecting joint (10) and either a thermoplastic plastic is injected to join the profiles or pieces of shrinkable thermoplastic (4) are placed around the joint and shrunk into position.
