[origin: WO0183353A1] The invention concerns a device for releasing the parachute of a lift cage comprising a crosspiece (22) articulated about a horizontal pin (25) on a fixed structure of the cage, maintained in a ready position by a bolt (28) co-operating with the fixed structure. The bolt (26) is integral with a carriage (17) mobile on the crosspiece (22): The carriage (17) bears a pulley (12), and a second pulley (11) is mounted on the crosspiece (22). A cable (13) fixed in the upper part of the lift shaft, passes over the two pulleys (11, 12) and is maintained stretched by a spring (16) in the lower part of the shaft. The carriage (17) is spaced away from the second pulley (11) by a second spring (26b). The cable (13) drives the pulleys (11, 12) when the cage travels down or up. Excess speed of the pulleys causes them to be brought closer to each other, releases the bolt (28) and causes the crosspiece (22) to pivot, thereby triggering the release mechanism.
