[origin: EP1283142A1] The buffer has a buffer box (1) on the train side and a relatively moveable gas-hydraulic buffer plunger unit (2) with plate (4) and tube (5). A radially moveable intermediate element (15) is positioned floating between plate and tube, to transmit eccentric forces acting on the plate, centrally onto the buffer tube. The tube has a disc (10) facing the intermediate element to support it. Buffer plate, disc, and intermediate element are of a plastic having good sliding characteristics.
