Abstract (en)

[origin: WO0189783A1] Wood fibres (2) which are used in the production of fibreboard are supplied from a metering device (1) through a supply chute (7) to a disintegration roller (12) comprising a large number of spikes (13) on its surface. The disintegration roller (12) rotates at high speed, in such a way that the spikes (13) deflect the fibres (6) hitting the disintegration roller (12). The fibres are entrained (6) by the spikes (13) and fed through a chute section (17) formed by a subsection (15) of the roller periphery and a wall (16) lying opposite the latter, to an outlet opening (18) of the chute section. Either a moulding belt (19) of a moulding machine is located beneath the outlet opening (18), or the fibres (6) pass from the outlet opening (18) into the air channel of an air fibre-separator. The disintegration roller (12) disintegrates irregularities in a fibre stream (6), e.g. fibre bundles, or drops of condensed water.
