[origin: EP1284202A1] Device comprises a shaft (1) for envelopes, a feed unit for feeding the envelopes to a suction device (19), a stop (3) against which the envelopes are moved, and a transport plane (4) on which the envelopes are conveyed. The suction device raises the front envelope (6) from the shaft plane running upward at an angle against the stop formed by an attachment to the higher transport plane and places it on the transport plane on the side opposite the suction device. Preferred Features: A stop for the front envelope is provided between the shaft plane and the transport plane. The suction device is arranged on a tube (9) extending perpendicular to the feed direction over the transport plane, rotating in an axial direction, and forming part of a lever (8) rotating about an axis (18) perpendicular to the feed direction and below the transport plane.
