Abstract (en)

[origin: WO02080760A1] The invention relates to a method and to a device for determining the cornea thickness (c) of an eye (3), especially of a human eye, by means of light waves. First light waves (L1) are emitted onto and into the cornea (4) and second light waves (L3, L4) reflected by the cornea (4) are detected to determine the cornea thickness (c). A contact body (2), preferably with parallel faces, is placed on a contact area (B) of the cornea (4) and the first light waves (L1) are emitted through the contact body (2) and onto and into the cornea (4). The contact body (2) is fastened for example on the cornea (4). The first light waves (L1) are emitted at least in some points in a two-dimensional measuring area (7) of the smoothed area (B) onto and into the cornea (4) and the cornea thickness (c) is determined in one or more sections of the measuring area (7).
