[origin: WO0181273A1] The invention concerns a method for powering a drive, especially the drive of a missile or a drive of a shaft. According to said method, nitrogen and/or nitrogen compounds are reacted with silicon and/or silicon compounds in a reaction chamber with the aid of an element of the subgroup or an oxide of the element of the subgroup and silicon nitride is formed. The energy released during said reaction is used to power the drive.
