Abstract (en)
[origin: WO0193292A1] This invention provides an electron field emitter and field emitter cathode comprised of carbon fibers grown from the catalytic decomposition of carbon-containing gases over small metal particles. Each carbon fibers has graphene platelets arranged at an angle with respect to the fiber axis so that the periphery of the carbon fiber consists essentially of the edges of the graphene platelets. These field emitters and field emitter cathodes are useful in computer, television and other types of flat panel displays.
