[origin: WO0195689A1] The luminous units in an optical monitoring system, especially in the placement and treatment of electronic components, are controlled via flash impulses (FI), the parameters of which, namely intensity and duration, are stored in digital form. The flash impulses are generated on the basis of these digital values by pulse width modulation. The invention thereby allows to simply adapt and modify the parameters of certain luminous elements or of certain machine requirements in the software without requiring a manual adjustment of the pulse circuit.
