Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1287810A1] Hair treatment composition in the form of a water-based gel comprises a copolymer of an ethoxylated itaconate monoester (I) and an acrylate monomer and a nonionic, anionic, zwitterionic or amphoteric hair-setting polymer. Hair treatment composition in the form of a water-based gel with a viscosity of at least 1000 mPas (measured at 25 degrees C and a shear rate of 50 sec<-1>) comprises: (a) (a) at least 0.5 wt.% of a copolymer of an ethoxylated itaconate monoester of formula (I) and an acrylate monomer; and (b) (b) a nonionic, anionic, zwitterionic or amphoteric hair-fixing polymer. CH2=C(COOR<1>)CH2COOR<2> (I) R<1>, R<2> = H or (CH2CH2O)xR<3>, one being H and the other (CH2CH2O)xR<3>; x = 1-100; and R<3> = 8-30C alkyl. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a hair treatment composition in the form of a water-based gel with a viscosity of at least 1000 mPas (measured at 25 degrees C and a shear rate of 50 sec<-1>) and a pH above 7, containing 0.5-20 wt.% of a copolymer of (I) and an acrylate monomer selected from (meth)acrylic acid and 1-10C alkyl (meth)acrylates, where the viscosity first increases, passes through a maximum and then decreases with increasing shear rate; and (2) a water-based gel for simultaneously setting and temporarily coloring the hair, with a viscosity of at least 1000 mPas (measured at 25 degrees C and a shear rate of 50 sec<-1>) and a pH above 7, comprising at least 0.5 wt.% of a copolymer of (I) and an acrylate monomer and at least one pigment.
