Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1287925A2] Part sections of the rim (10) are subjected to different heat treatments to form different strengths. Inner rim flange (16) and rim base (18) have higher strength than outer rim flange (14) and/or rim well (12). During artificial aging of the rim, part sections (24,28) resp. outer flange and rim well, are maintained at a lower aging temperature. The strength of these sections may be reduced after aging, by additional solution heat treatment.
