Abstract (en)
[origin: FR2810317A1] Separating hydroxybenzonitrile compounds (I) from a reaction gas stream containing (I) at least partially in the form of ammonium salts (II) (i.e. ammonium cyanophenates) involves removing ammonium ions by physical treatment of the gas stream or solid recovered after gas liquefaction (optionally after converting the solid into solution) or chemical treatment of the gas flow after liquefaction. Independent claims are included for the following: (i) some of the salts (II), and (ii) four forms of apparatus for carrying out the process, where (I) is 2-hydroxybenzonitrile (2-HBN), and (iii) hydroxybenzonitrile ammonium salts of formula (II') and ammonium 2-cyanophenate of formula (IIA) as new compounds.
