Abstract (en)
[origin: WO0193300A1] In a cathode ray tube (10), an electron beam is directed towards a faceplate (20) having an electrode (22) biased at screen potential and is magnetically scanned across the faceplate (20) to impinge upon phosphors (23) thereon to produce light depicting an image. A six-pole coil (15) is disposed proximate the deflection yoke (16) and/or on the tube neck (14) to modify the focus of the red, green and blue electron beams to control focus. An electrode (46) between the tube neck (14) and the faceplate (20) is biased at or above screen potential to deflect electrons over a greater total angle than is obtained from the magnetic deflection.
