[origin: EP1293634A2] Improved protection and safety device for automatic gates, in particular for automatic sliding gates, comprising at least one protection rib (10, 110, 210, 310) which includes a shaped profile (12, 112, 212, 312) connected to a protection element (14, 114, 214, 314), containing inside of it at least one portion of cable (22, 122, 222, 322) attached to a mechanism for shutting off the power supply to the gate, following pressure upon the protection element (14, 114, 214, 314), as a consequence of a collision of an obstacle; in at least one portion of the profile (12, 112, 212, 312), corresponding to a lower and/or upper zone of the rib (10, 110, 210, 310) and of the surface of the gate, it is foreseen to insert a shell (30, 130, 230, 330), attached to the protection element (14, 114, 214, 314), comprising inside of it a lever member (32; 132, 150; 232; 350) and/or a plate or spring (337) connected to the cable (22, 122, 222, 322).
