In a communication system (SYS) each vehicle (V1, V2, V3) comprises a transmitting device (VBD1, VBD2, VBD3) which transmits vehicle-specific signals to all other vehicles with a signal format depending on the vehicle position. Thus, each vehicle can identify at least the position of another vehicle in a geographical area (GA) in accordance with the used signal format. <IMAGE>
