Abstract (en)

[origin: WO0200987A2] The porthole window is formed from a circular bottom section (5) and a sidewall section (4), whereby the bottom section (5) comprises a viewing glass (10) with an essentially planar inner surface (12) and a boundary region (14). The sidewall section (4) of the bowl, narrowing down towards the bottom section (5) is made from rigid plastic. The viewing glass (10) throughout the boundary region (14) of the bottom section (5) is bent in the direction of the sidewall section (4) in such a way that the boundary region (14) of the bottom section (5) forms a rounded glass shoulder (16). On the outer edge of the glass shoulder (16) the viewing glass (10) comprises an annular jointing section (6) running at an angle to the inner surface (12) of the bottom section (5), the head end (18) of which is fixed in engagement with the inner end (20) of the sidewall section (4).
