[origin: WO0201216A1] The invention relates to an electrode which on use can selectively pump O2 out of a gas mixture electrochemically, in the presence of other gas components containing oxygen, such as NOx. Said electrode comprises a Pt/Au electrode, the surface of which is impregnated with at least one compound of an alkali metal, an alkali earth metal, or a rare earth metal, preferably praseodymium.
