Abstract (en)

[origin: WO0199459A1] The invention relates to a method and a system of locationing a subscriber terminal. The network sends (402) to the terminal a short message with type zero, the protocol conveying the short message commanding the terminal to wait for the next short message, whereby the radio link between the network and the terminal remains active for a given time. The terminal rejects (408) the payload of the received short message without measures taken by the user, since the type of the short message is zero. The terminal (414) sends automatically, without measures taken by the user, an acknowledgement message to the network having received the short message. The terminal is located (416) by retrieving the identifier of the cell serving the terminal from the network while the radio link between the network and the terminal is active because the terminal is waiting for the next short message.
