[origin: EP1300510A2] In a paper manufacturing process a wet web (1) is picked up in the vicinity of a lift-off roller (3) and transported by an air-permeable felt belt (2) over one or more rotating cylinders (4, 8). A hot air blower (5) is directed at the exposed web surface. The blower is positioned esp. between the lift-off roller (3) and cylinder (4). <??>A suction device is located opposite the blower on the other side of the web. The blower (5) extends over the width of the entire web and is transversely sub-divided into separate sections, each with individual temperature control. The web (1) centre section is subject to a greater volume and/or temperature of blown air. The lift-off roller is a perforated suction drum. The web drying group may consists of one or more drying rollers (8).
