[origin: WO0206532A1] Gene and amino acid sequences encoding DNA polymerase III holoenzyme delta subunits and structural genes from bacteria are provided. Also provided are antibodies and other reagents useful to identify DNA polymerase III delta subunit molecules. Also provided are methods to identify DNA polymerase III delta subunit molecules. The use of DNA polymerase III delta subunit molecules in assays to identify candidate antibiotics are also provided.
