[origin: WO0202937A1] The invention relates to a radial piston pump for providing fuel at high pressure in fuel injection systems of internal combustion engines, especially in a common rail injection system. Said radial piston pump comprises a drive shaft which is mounted in a housing and which has an eccentric shaft section, said eccentric shaft section interacting with preferably several pistons in order to draw in fuel by suction and subject the fuel to high-pressure in a high pressure area. Said pistons are arranged radially in relation to the drive shaft in an element bore, respectively and can be moved back and forth. A structure in the mu m range is configured in the outer lateral surface (3) of the pistons and/or the inner lateral surface of the element bore in order to increase the degree of efficiency and the service life of the radial piston pump.
