The invention particularly relates to a measuring device for connection to a current loop, in particular, a 4 - 20 mA current loop, or to a digital communication, with devices for controlling the measuring operation of the measuring device in conforming with the predetermined power consumption. The regulating devices thus control the power consumption of the measuring device during measuring operations, such that the power consumption used may approach the predetermined power consumption value without exceeding said value.
