[origin: WO0206150A1] The aim of the invention is a lighter construction for a car jack and thus a weight advantage for the vehicle. Said aim is achieved whereby said jack, with a support body standing on the ground (4), which comprises a support column (1), a foot (2) pivotably attached thereto and a carrying arm (5). Said arm is fixed to the support column such that it may rotate about a defined horizontal axis, may be directly or indirectly raised or lowered relative to the ground (4), by means of a displacement spindle (7), have a fixed or pivotable support piece on the free end (6) thereof and on the other end, extending into the support column (1), comprises suitable controlling means which displace a control slide (10) parallel to the longitudinal direction of the support column (1) such that the control slide occasionally rests with the end (19) thereof on the base surface (3) of the foot (2). Said aim is achieved whereby a dog (21) is arranged on the inner side of the base surface (3), in front of the end (19) of the control slide (10).
