Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1304414A1] The arrester cable consists of a flexible cable (122) deployed across a waterway (114) and connected at each end to an anchor (136, 137) on the bed of the waterway and a buoy (124, 125). Each buoy is attached to fixed lateral retaining points (126a, 126b; 127a, 127b) by V-shaped mooring lines (128a, 128b; 129a, 129b) of reduced resistance. The arrester cable is pre-tensioned by an elastic traction assembly (148, 149) in each of the forward mooring lines. A craft under way encountering the cable causes the mooring lines to break and is held by the arrester cable and anchors.
