[origin: WO0212784A1] The invention relates to a lantern, particularly a grave or garden lantern, preferably comprising a housing which is completely made of glass and consists of a base (6), at least three side walls (5) arranged at an angle to each other, a roof (1) and at least one access opening enabling lightening means, particularly a candle, to be placed or replaced in the inner area (17) of said housing. According to the invention, the roof (1) and at least one of the side walls (3) can be moved in relation to a supporting side wall (5) which is rigidly connected to the base (6) and/or can be removed, in order to provide an access opening that extends over the area of the removable side wall (3) and the removable roof (1). In contrast to laterally unfoldable side walled lanterns, the inventive lantern can be cleaned via the removable roof. Each region within the inner housing is free and easily accessible. The combination of upper and lateral openings allows sufficient space for circular or vibrating cleaning movements. Preferably, the side wall (3) and the roof (1) can be completely removed so that they can be cleaned easily.
