Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1306300A1] The keel (1) of the sailing craft has a heel corrector (2) or compensator in an aperture near its lower edge that can be moved to either side of the keel's vertical axis. The heel corrector is moved by a drive mechanism with a shaft (5), rack (6) and pinion (6a), and compensates for the angle of the vessel by a shift in weight or by hydrodynamic forces acting on its surfaces. The drive mechanism can be actuated by angle sensors and a computer.
