The device has a cross cutter (110) and a computing device (16) that generates control signals for changing the phase angle of the printing unit with respect to the cross cutter. A path length variation device (26) changes the path length of the printing material web (10) by the control signal of the computing device in order to adjust the cross cutter position on the printing material. <??>An Independent claim is also included for a method of positioning a cross cutter relative to printed images on the printing material web in a web fed press.

Es wird eine Vorrichtung und ein Verfahren zur Positionierung eines Querschnitts relativ zu Druckbildern auf wenigstens einer Bedruckstoffbahn oder auf einer Anzahl von Teilbahnen der Bedruckstoffbahn in einer Rollendruckmaschine mit wenigstens einem Druckwerk, einem Querschneider und einer Recheneinrichtung vorgestellt. In Zusammenwirkung der Veränderung der relativen Phasenlage des Druckwerks und des Querschneiders und der Veränderung der Weglänge, welche die Bedruckstoffbahn oder jede der Anzahl von Teilbahnen zwischen Druckwerk und Querschneider durchläuft, ist die Positionierung des Querschnitts auf der Bedruckstoffbahn oder der zusammengeführten Teilbahnen einstellbar.
