[origin: WO0215131A1] The invention relates to a diagnosis method for detecting ageing symptoms in a steam turbine (2), wherein the efficiency (W) and the steam flow rate (F) of an aged steam turbine (2) is compared to the efficiency (W) and the steam flow rate (F) of a relatively new steam turbine (2). The efficiency (W) and the steam flow rate (F) are calculated using readings at several operating points on the steam turbine (2). The time history of the efficiency (W) and steam flow rates (F) applied in contrast to parameters such as the peripheral Mach number (Mu), pressure figure (D) and adjustment of the inlet valve (S) provide information on the extent of ageing of the steam turbine (2).
