The aim of the invention is to provide such a garbage collection vehicle and a method for operating the same with which the garbage is transferred from a charging container to a collection container while at the same time compressing the garbage in said container. Another aim of the invention is to provide a system with which the collection container can be emptied in a logistically advantageous manner either dependent or independent of the location. This aim is attained by the features of claims 1 and 14 of the invention.

At the back, said charging container is provided with a dumping opening (13) while the other side opens towards the collection swop container (2) whose back, in the opening zone, carries a pendular-suspended wall (6) that is borne on a shaft (7) and that oscillates between the interior of the collection swop container (2) and the interior of the charging container (3). The lower side of the charging container is provided with a concave trough (3') that extends transversally to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle. Above said through a transport plate (12) is horizontally mounted so as to rotate and is borne on bearings (11) so as to follow the rotational movement, with the outer edge of its radial extension, along the inner contour of the cross-section of the trough (3') in a gliding manner. Said bearings can be moved horizontally back and forth between the through edges (21, 21').
