[origin: WO0216379A1] The invention relates to a method for the production of alkyl glucosides from saccharides containing fructose in a non-reduced form by acid-catalyzed reaction of an alcohol with said saccharides wherein at least one of the following are used as a catalyst: a clay mineral, a Y-zeolite and oxalic acid, and the product mixture contains the corresponding aklyl fructosides, and optionally, the alkyl glucosides obtained can be transglycosilated with another, especially higher alcohol.
