Abstract (en)
[origin: DE10040475C1] The invention relates to a crankcase for an internal engine, especially a boxer engine, comprising two crankcase halves (10, 12) in which bearing sections (18) with bearing bores (24) for the crank pins of a crankshaft are arranged. Both crankcase halves (10, 12) are screwed together in the region of the bore holes (24). The crankcase is also provided with cylinder bores (14, 16) for receiving the pistons. According to the invention, the plane of osculation (30) of both crankcase halves (10, 12) extends at an angle alpha and the longitudinal axis (36) of the bearing screws (26, 28) extends at a substantially right angle to said plane of osculation (30) . As a result, both crankshaft halves (10, 12) can be screwed closely to the bearing bore (24) without any lateral force.
