[origin: EP1312447A2] An adaptor for a socket set has a large diameter section with straight splines to fit into a similarly shaped socket in the spanner, and a smaller diameter end with an inner profile to take sockets or to fit onto a nut/screw head. The larger diameter section locates through the thickness of the spanner and has a thickened front rim to locate the adaptor into the fitting and to prevent it slipping through the fitting. The thickening can be via a profiled ridge or by a slight increase in the outer diameter of the spline pattern. The two sections of the adaptor are linked by a tapering section.
