Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1314817A1] The assembly to produce a web (12), especially of tissue or toilet paper, carries the web through at least two press nips (I,II) with a blanket (14). The press nips are formed between a smooth roller (16) and counter rollers (18,20). The web is given a wet creped effect at the smooth roller, and is then pressed against an embossing belt (22). The web is detached from the smooth roller by a scraper (34), to move in a free path to the embossing belt of ≤ 50 mm and preferably ≤ 30 mm. After the wet embossing action, the web is pressed against a drying cylinder (24).
