Abstract (en)
The calender (1), to polish a paper web, has a nip (11) between a heated roller (3) and a rotating flexible mantle (5), which is pressed against a given surface segment of the heated roller by a support (7). An additional heated metal belt (15) is passed through the nip, to give a surface polishing zone between the belt and the roller, and to pass through the nip between the web (2) and the rotating mantle. The belt heater (16) is in front of the nip. A cooling unit (23) acts on the rotating mantle, after the nip.

Es wird ein Kalander und ein Verfahren zum Glätten einer Papier- oder Kartonbahn angegeben, wobei die Vorrichtung einen Nip (11) aufweist, der zwischen einer beheizbaren Walze (3) und einem umlaufenden Mantel (5) gebildet ist, der unter der Wirkung eines Stützelements (7) über einen vorbestimmten Umfangsbereich an die Walze (3) angedrückt wird. Man möchte die Bahn (2) besser glätten können. Hierzu ist ein zusätzliches beheiztes Band (15) durch den Nip (11) geführt und eine Behandlungsstrecke ist zwischen dem Band (15) und der Walze (3) ausgebildet. Es wird also ein beheiztes Band (15) zwischen der Bahn (2) und dem Mantel (5) durch den Nip geführt. <IMAGE>
