[origin: EP1314952A2] A projectile comprises a cylindrical guide region (5) and a tip (7) with a segmented guide ring (8). The ring has at least two segments, and an outer diameter that is smaller than the inner diameter of a tubular weapon. The guide ring is fixed to the projectile, such that the segments free themselves from the projectile at a predetermined acceleration. The guide ring comprises a deformable material, e.g. a plastic.
