Abstract (en)

[origin: GB2366546A] In order to render a wheeled vehicle, particularly an infant's pushchair, more stable on uneven ground, front and rear pairs of wheels 4,5 and 1,2 are mounted on pivotal axles 3,6 and a mechanical connection 12 between the two axles 3,6 translates pivotal movement of the front axle 6 into opposite pivotal movement of the rear axle 3. If, for example, the left-hand front wheel 4 rides-up over a bump as compared to the riht-hand front wheel 5, then the right-hand rear wheel 2 is caused to ride-up and the left-hand rear wheel 1 is driven down, which compensates for the tendency of the pushchair to tilt in response to the riding-up of the left-hand front wheel 4. Various mechanical connections are disclosed including linkages of different kinds and interconnecting gears. The support structure can also be applied to any hand trolley or cart, and to stationary structures such as tables, etc. where compensation for uneven ground is required.
