Abstract (en)
[origin: WO0218763A1] The invention relates to a method for heating a catalyst used in internal combustion engines. The inventive method comprises the following steps: producing a measure for the temperature of the catalyst; carrying out, below a predetermined temperature, a first heating step in which the temperature of the exhaust gas is increased; carrying out, above said predetermined temperature, alternatively or additionally to the first heating step a second heating step, in which the catalyst is provided, in addition to the exhaust gas, with a reactive mixture whose reaction in the catalyst releases heat in the catalyst.
