[origin: EP1316969A1] A binderless stimulable phosphor screen comprising a vapour deposited storage phosphor layer on a support and a protective layer wherein the vapour deposited phosphor is needle shaped and the phosphor needles have a length, L and voids between them and wherein said protective layer fills said voids for at most 0.10 times L. Preferably the protective layer is radiation cured.
