[origin: WO0213670A1] The invention relates to a mat for cleaning the soles of footwear. The mat comprises a number of mat elements joined together by wires, bars or the like. At least the upper portion of the mat elements, to which the soles of the footwear touch on stepping on the mat has a form like a tooth or crenellated. The mat elements are joined together only nearly their ends interlockedly.
