[origin: WO0220946A1] The invention relates to a method for boring and placing bolts for imbedding adhesively, close to the face, during a cutting operation carried out with a tunnelling or mining machine which can be moved on a travelling mechanism and which has a cutting cylinder or cutting head that is rotationally mounted on a pivotable jib and that can be pivoted in a vertical direction and optionally, in a horizontal direction. The method is carried out in such a way that the essentially horizontal motion of the jib is detected when undercutting takes place and during the undercutting process, a signal is generated blocking the initiation of a work cycle for boring and bolting. To this end, the control device (16) for stripping material at the face is linked to the control devices (15) for operating the boring and bolt-placing device by radio, electrical or optical lines (17).
