[origin: WO0223840A1] The present invention relates to a method for pilot-assisted channel estimation for code channels comprising pilot symbols interlaced to other data symbols. For improving the adaptation to different channel situations the invention proposes that a received code channel is sampled to form symbol samples, replacing symbol samples relating not to pilot symbol samples by substitute symbols, post-processing the data stream that includes the substitute symbols and adapting the rate of the post-processed data stream. The invention also relates to an adaptive interpolation method for pilot-assisted channel estimation. To improve interpolation the invention further proposes to evaluate the channel situation and switch between at least two different interpolation methods in respect to the channel evaluation results.
