[origin: EP1099783A1] Card clothing wire has a tapered blade section (30) joined at a shoulder (22) on one side to a thicker base section (20). The thickness (b3) of the base section is greater than 2, preferably 2.6 times the thickness (b4) of the blade section measured at the lowest part of the teeth. The preferred thickness dimensions of the other parts of the wire are also specified. An Independent claim is also included, preferably for a wire if this type, having a teeth height (h5) greater than 0.3 times, preferably 0.45 times, the height (h1) of the wire.
