Abstract (en)
The calender (1) to polish the surface of a paper or cardboard web (2) has a nip (10) between two rollers where the web passes through. The nip is a wide nip between a roller (3) and a counter surface formed by a rotating mantle (4) and a support shoe (5). The roller is driven at a different speed from the rotary speed of the mantle. The roller rotates faster than the mantle and with a faster speed than the speed of web travel, and it is heated. The roller and the mantle have speed controls as a roller drive (14) and a mantle brake (15). The mantle has a higher friction coefficient against the web than the roller.

Es wird ein Verfahren und ein Kalander (1) zum Glätten einer Faserstoffbahn (2), insbesondere einer Papieroder Kartonbahn, angegeben, bei dem die Bahn (2) durch einen Nip (10) geleitet wird. Man möchte die Glätte der Bahn verbessern. Hierzu verwendet man als Nip (10) einen Breitnip, der zwischen einer Walze (3) und einem durch einen Stützschuh (5) gegen die Walze (3) gepreßten umlaufenden Mantel (4) gebildet ist, und betreibt die Walze (3) mit einer Umfangsgeschwindigkeit, die von der Umlaufgeschwindigkeit des Mantels (4) abweicht. <IMAGE>
