Abstract (en)

[origin: DE10141771C1] The invention relates to a device for controlling lining wear in metal vessels, arranged in the vessel wall or in the region of the outer surface of the vessel, whereby at least one control section is provided, in which a light guide (1) is fed through passages running at a separation from each other and the input and output of the light guide (1) are connected to an analytical system. The aim of such a device is to reliably record relevant changes in the wall of a vessel in a simple manner and signal the same acoustically or optically. Said aim is achieved whereby the core (2) of the light guide (1) comprises a light-reflecting sleeve (3) which loses the light-reflecting property thereof in a temperature range which indicates changes in the vessel wall thickness.
